Ice Cream Cone Cupcake Tutorial


These super cute and fun treats are something I've been wanting to try making for quite some time. I figured a big end of summer picnic was my golden opportunity! These are great because you can do any type of cake or frosting combo that you would like! They were a HUGE hit at the picnic, I went to go show a friend my handy work and they were already all gone!! Here is the step by step process on how to make your very own ice cream cone cupcakes!

Ingredients:

1 box cake mix (I prefer Funfetti)
2 cans of frosting (I used classic vanilla)
1 24 pack of ice cream cones (cake cones)
1 container of sprinkles (any variety you choose)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 (or time specified on cake mix box)
Prepare cake mix as directed
Place cones upright in a mini muffin tin (the smaller mini muffin tin gives the cone less wiggle room than a standard cupcake tin)
Fill each cone 2/3 of the way with prepared batter
Bake for 30 min or until cake is thoroughly cooked
Allow to cool before frosting
To frost the cupcake cones, use a frosting bag or tip to swirl frosting up cake (mimicking the look of a soft serve ice cream cone)
Generously apply sprinkles to frosted ice cream cone cupcakes. 

*Tip serve immediately, if you store these overnight or for a lengthy period of time, the cones sink in under the weight of the cake and look crazy..*
