Rainbow Cupcake Tutorial

Only have the ingredients to make yellow cake and vanilla frosting?! Have no fear - there's no need for a boring hum drum cake -just add a little color! One of my favorite things to make is rainbow cupcakes. Start with a white or yellow cake and just add food coloring. It's a little time consuming but it always packs a punch - the people love it! Here it is a tutorial on how to make your very own rainbow cupcakes!

What You'll Need:

White cake mix (prepared or boxed)

Red, yellow, and blue food coloring

Small cups

Toothpicks for mixing

Cupcake liners

Directions:

Prepare cake mix as directed

Preheat oven 

Spoon equal amounts of cake mix into 6 separate cups

Add 2-3 drops of food coloring into each cup. For orange, purple and green add 2 drops of each color needed. (ex. purple = 2 drops red, 2 drops blue)

Place cupcake liners in tin and spoon a small amount of batter in layers into each cup. Start with purple and end with red. 

Bake for 20-23 minutes and let cool. Frost with your favorite frosting and taste the rainbow!
